One half day isn’t enough to do the whole of San Francisco. In fact, nor is two.
We decided to go back in to San Franciso the quick way – across the Bay Bridge, which is directly west from Livermore. It still took about an hour in the end. As we travelled through San Francisco we a few of these funky three wheeled yellow mini cars. That looked like a great way to get around!
That was until we reached the Golden Gate Bridge. Once that was in sight we probably took another hour.
The reason for the delay was revealed as we passed the first of several cars whcih had broken down either in the tunnel just before the bridge or literally as we approached the barrier. Nightmare.
Once at the bridge, we realised that you only pay tolls one way and that way in going into the city, so it was a freebie. The Bay Bridge we crossed previously however, was on the way in, so we had to pay.
A decision to cross the bridge first and then walk back made sense as we had been in the car for ages. The walk back provided awesome views of the bay, the city, Alcatraz and the bridge itself which is very impressive.
Once we crossed to the centre we turned back and returned to the car. Had a bit of lunch. Set off into Sausalito.
This is a lovely place and obviously a great relaxing second home place for the wealthy of San Fran.
We are travelling north today to stay in Redding.
