Hotel Booking Websites

These can be a godsend when you are looking for a place to stay for a number of reasons.

Advantages

1. They often carry reviews of the different hotels, motels and places to stay. These can be very enlightening and save you from a disaster.

2. They often do not charge an additional booking fee, so it can cost the same as booking direct,. They take their commission from the supplier.

3. You can compare a lot of places very quickly based on the local area or surroundings.

Disadvantages

1. You can’t easily negotiate a lower price with a booking site, even if you ring them up.

2. Once or twice, although we received confirmation by email, the hotel didn’t have a copy of this. It may be a rare anomaly, though it is worth making sure you have a copy of the booking confirmation ready on your phone when you check in.
